WE CARE SERIES - 2

BEYOND THE FLOOD Lessons for Insulating Kerala           The flood of 2018 had been a learning platform for the whole of Kerala. Overwhelming with tears and fears, armed with a ‘Never Say Die’ attitude, and the tenacity for a fast and furious recovery made the flood more a lesson than a sorrow memory. Many were the facts the Keralites learnt. Not all of them can be put down either. Lessons at  personal level, professional level, relationship level. The Malayali community had the opportunity to learn to prioritize, make protocols, and avoid further such calamities. Many scientific and collective reflections had been done at multiple levels to mitigate the catastrophe, also in preparation for the future.            Don Bosco College Mannuthy, joining hands with the ESAF small finance bank, also made its own reflections. Collective memory and integrated learning gave birth to a National Seminar named UDDHAN which resulted in research presentations. We bring along those researches for futu

WE CARE SERIES - 1

INSULATE KERALA Hard lessons from flooded fury      Learning lessons the hard way. That is what Kerala is doing now after the 2018 flood. Torrential rains. Flooding rivers. Overflowing dams. Perilous landslides. Cattle and beast dead and floating. Houses submerged. Lives lost. Economy crumbling. Hard lessons have been taught by water drops, coming down with fury.       Now, we are learning to survive; to LIVE BEYOND. Harnessing the range of water and wind, of human erroneous calculations and unscientific living habits, we are insulating Kerala; rather than learning to do so.       This collection of reflections are from the National Conference ‘UDDHAN’ and beyond. It is about how we can handle the fury of nature, to learn to live together with nature, how to prepare in case of further floods, and want to reserve for future generations.       ‘Insulate Kerala’ is a dream, is a hope, and is also the reflection of untiring zest to live beyond the catastrophe.

‘The Other Is Our Neighbour’

The care paradigm inspires every decision and every action in such a way that a new horizon opens up where the ‘different’ is not left apart, not cast to oblivion; neither dreaded nor antagonized.     We care that everyone may be well. We care that everything may be well. We care that we leave this world a better place. Intelligent human beings must rise and give a hand that the entire universe brightens up; also for the next generation.      ‘We Care’ is an educational emphasis which is developed by Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. Commenced with a National Interreligious Meet titled ‘The Other Is Our Neighbour’ in 2018, the vision proposes that all activities of the college be enshrined with this mantra till 2025 to mark a seven-year period, a number biblically signalling completion.

CARE PARADIGM

CARE PARADIGM “As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and other for helping others.”- Maya Angelou Help and care are inevitable aspirations of humankind. Everyone needs care, and most people long to get cared for. This opulent beholding is thus a manifestation, where we uphold the upmost necessity to care, nurture, assist, comfort and provide for the entire world. It’s not only about dealing with the human society but also with the entire universe.  The whimpering of the marginalized, the cry of those left out in the existential peripheries and those forgotten in our vicinities call for care and consideration. We answer the call with empathy and compassion. The care paradigm inspires every decision and every action in such a way that a new horizon opens up where the ‘different’ is

LINGUAPHILES

When wisdom generates more knowledge ripples widen and the entire world profits. Academic loud thinking enables the proficient to pen down and share for all. Linguaphiles generate a platform where ideas generate concepts and words manifest standpoints. Caring for the other also in cyberspace is the motivation behind this blog. It would take a stand for the least, the lost, and the last. It would multiply initiatives and venture into untrodden routes to create pathways so that this generation and the next can profit from profound reflections and generate wisdom of life.  Happy Reading ahead.
