WE CARE SERIES - 2
BEYOND THE FLOOD
Lessons for Insulating Kerala
The flood of 2018 had been a learning platform for the whole of Kerala. Overwhelming with tears and fears, armed with a ‘Never Say Die’ attitude, and the tenacity for a fast and furious recovery made the flood more a lesson than a sorrow memory. Many were the facts the Keralites learnt. Not all of them can be put down either. Lessons at personal level, professional level, relationship level. The Malayali community had the opportunity to learn to prioritize, make protocols, and avoid further such calamities. Many scientific and collective reflections had been done at multiple levels to mitigate the catastrophe, also in preparation for the future.
Don Bosco College Mannuthy, joining hands with the ESAF small finance bank, also made its own reflections. Collective memory and integrated learning gave birth to a National Seminar named UDDHAN which resulted in research presentations. We bring along those researches for future perusal. We will not succumb to calamities. As humans, we will learn to survive, adapt and go beyond.
